Care Instructions for MOSER Fine Crystal Glass

To ensure the lasting beauty and quality of your crystal glassware, we recommend the following care guidelines:

  • Handwash only: Always wash crystal pieces by hand using lukewarm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent. Avoid dishwashers and harsh chemical cleaners, as these may damage the glass or any decorative elements.

  • Dry with care: Dry immediately with a soft cloth after washing to prevent water spots and preserve the brilliance of the crystal.

  • Mind the detailing: Avoid placing glasses face-down if they feature gold or platinum detailing. Prolonged contact with moisture (such as a damp towel) can cause precious metal accents to wear or peel over time.

  • Handle gently: Handle with care to avoid scratches or chips. Keep crystal away from sharp or hard objects, and take special care with the rim—the most delicate part of the glass.

  • Avoid contact between pieces: Minimize contact between crystal pieces during use or storage to prevent accidental damage.

  • Protect from thermal shock: Avoid sudden temperature changes. Never place crystal in the freezer or expose it to extreme heat or cold, as this can cause cracking.

  • No microwave or oven use: Do not place Moser crystal in the microwave or oven. The crystal is not designed for this use, and doing so could result in irreparable damage.

  • Not for hot beverages: Moser crystal is not suited for hot drinks. The temperature of any beverage served should not exceed 40 °C.

  • Caring for precious metals: At Moser, we use exclusively 24-karat gold and platinum. Oxidation of these metals is a natural process and not a sign of poor quality. Signs of oxidation can be gently removed using a polishing agent designed specifically for precious metals.

  • Repairing scratches: Whether scratches can be repaired depends on the specific product. Thin-walled items like glasses are more difficult to fix, as there isn’t enough crystal thickness to sand. However, decorative objects and thick-walled drinkware can often be sanded or polished to remove scratches, including those on the base.

By following these simple care steps, you’ll preserve the clarity, detail, and elegance of your crystal pieces for generations to come.

Care Instructions for Murano Glass

To maintain the beauty and brilliance of your Murano glass object, please follow these care guidelines:

  • Clean using slightly warm water, and if needed, a neutral soap.

  • Avoid ammonia or any harsh chemicals, as these can damage the surface.

High temperatures, high-pressure water, or aggressive detergents may cause permanent damage, resulting in a cloudy, milky, or patchy effect on the glass.

  • Never wash two pieces together—they could scratch or damage each other during cleaning.

  • After washing, ensure the piece is completely dry, as water spots can appear if moisture remains on the surface.

Care Instructions for Other Fine Crystal & Glassware

To preserve the beauty and functionality of your glassware, please follow these care recommendations:

For Regular Glass:

  • Wash gently: Most regular glassware is dishwasher safe. However, always use a gentle cycle and ensure that glasses are properly spaced, not touching other dishes, and that the dishwasher arm will not hit them during the wash.
For more delicate pieces such as carafes, vases, or jugs, we recommend handwashing. Simply soak the item in warm water with a mild detergent. For hard-to-reach areas or mineral buildup, use a limescale cleaner specifically designed for glass.

  • Avoid extreme temperature changes: Sudden shifts from hot to cold (or vice versa) can cause glass to crack. Always avoid exposing glass to thermal shock.

  • Polish with care: When polishing glassware, avoid applying excessive pressure. For best results, refer to our short instructional video that demonstrates safe polishing techniques.

Maintenance of Decorated Glass (Gold or Silver Accents):

  • Handwash only: Glassware decorated with gold or other metallic elements is not dishwasher safe. Always wash these items by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid harsh scrubbing or abrasive materials.

  • Avoid thermal shock: Just like regular glass, decorated items are sensitive to rapid temperature changes. Never expose them to sudden shifts in heat or cold.

  • Store glass completely dry: Over time, silver under the gold layer may react to atmospheric influences, leading to corrosion. To prevent this, always store decorated glass in a dry condition, free from moisture.

  • Polish properly: If gold decoration begins to show signs of corrosion, its appearance can often be restored with the careful use of a suitable polishing agent. We recommend SITOL products for polishing glass, decorated surfaces, and metals.
Apply only to affected areas and polish gently. Avoid polishing the entire surface, as excessive treatment may damage the gold layer.

By following these care instructions, your regular and decorated glassware will maintain its brilliance and elegance for many years to come.

Care Instructions for a fine porcelain

Tableware
The majority of the manufactory’s tableware can be safely cleaned in the dishwasher. Whether a specific piece is dishwasher-safe will always be noted in the product description online. Many of the items are also microwavable—again, this information is provided individually for each product.

Hand-painted porcelain should always be washed by hand using a soft cloth to preserve the delicate decoration.

There are different types of painted decorations that affect how the piece should be cared for:

  • Under-glaze decoration is applied before the glazing process and then fired at around 1400°C. This technique protects the hand-painted details beneath the glaze, making these pieces generally safe for dishwasher use.

  • Over-glaze decoration is applied on top of the already glazed porcelain and typically fired at approximately 900°C. These items often require several firings and are not suitable for the dishwasher. They should always be cleaned by hand.

  • In-glaze decoration is fired at about 1100°C, resulting in a strong bond between the glaze and paint. These pieces are usually considered safe for the dishwasher, but care is always recommended.

Bisque Tableware
Bisque porcelain may appear delicate because it’s glaze-free, but it is in fact non-porous, hard, and highly resistant to scratches and stains. It is fired at around 1400°C and then polished by hand to achieve a smooth, silky surface.

  • Bisque tableware is microwave-safe, dishwasher-proof, and even resists staining from acidic or highly pigmented foods.

  • Thanks to its careful grinding and finishing process, dirt cannot easily adhere to the surface.

Porcelain Figures and Figurines
To clean figurines, simply use a damp cloth or a soft duster. Pay extra attention to fine details like petals, leaves, or fingers, as they can be fragile.

  • For antique pieces, it is best to avoid contact with water altogether, as moisture may weaken or disturb older repairs.
