Filip Dobias is a contemporary Czech glass artist known for his restrained forms and precise exploration of light, color, and spatial depth in glass. He studied at the Secondary School of Glassmaking in Valašské Meziříčí and graduated in 2014 from the Glass Studio at UMPRUM in Prague under Rony Plesl, with further experience gained during a residency at the Institute of Glass in Toyama, Japan.
Working with techniques such as blowing, cutting, slumping, and fusing, Dobias focuses on structural clarity and optical perception rather than narrative expression. His work has been exhibited internationally, including at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague and Glass Mania in London.
Between the Rivers by Filip Dobias is a glass art object that reflects the artist’s disciplined engagement with form, light, and spatial perception. Through carefully controlled shaping and surface treatment, the work evokes a sense of flow and quiet movement, where the interaction between interior depth and exterior contour becomes central to the viewing experience.
Between the Rivers emphasizes optical subtlety and structural clarity, allowing light to articulate the glass mass in a way that suggests a dialogue between stillness and motion. As with much of Dobias’s practice, Between the Rivers focuses on perception itself—how space, transparency, and restrained form converge to create a contemplative sculptural presence.
