Peter Mandl is a Czech-born sculptor working primarily in glass and bronze, now based in Sweden. Following the events of 1968, he settled in Scandinavia, where he developed a long-standing studio practice shaped by both Central European glass tradition and Scandinavian modernism.
Mandl studied at the College of Glass Art in Železný Brod and later at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, with additional training at Orrefors’ Glass School. His early professional experience included work with leading glasshouses such as Kosta and Orrefors, grounding his practice in material discipline and technical rigor.
Devoted to sculpture throughout his life, Mandl is known for a distinctive forming and mould-melting technique through which he captures fleeting moments in solid glass and bronze. His works draw inspiration from natural forces and the human body, creating forms that appear frozen in time yet remain visually dynamic. Balancing classical proportion with fluid abstraction, his sculptures invite both contemplation and calm, occupying a distinctive place within collectible contemporary glass art and sculpture. Today, his creations are featured in public and private collections worldwide.
The Dancing Fairies is a captivating glass sculpture that embodies the ethereal grace of mythical beings in motion. Crafted with exceptional skill, the piece features delicate, elongated forms that convey a sense of fluidity and lightness. The translucent quality of the glass enhances the sculpture's dreamlike presence, allowing light to pass through and create dynamic reflections. This artwork stands as a testament to the artist's mastery in capturing movement and emotion within the medium of glass.
