DESCRIPTION
This elegant, lidded vase with snake-shaped handles was designed by Johann Carl Schönheit around 1781, following the refined Louis Seize style from France. Its graceful, egg-shaped form reflects the classical elegance of the era.
The central motif of the dancing nymph—based on a design attributed to Meissen artist Ludwig Sturm—is rendered in the rare and intricate pâte-sur-pâte technique, mastered only at Meissen. The result is a delicate, sculptural relief that captures motion and grace in porcelain. Limited to just 25 pieces.
