DESCRIPTION
A poetic homage to the elegance of Russian ballet, Estrella is a hand-painted porcelain sculpture created by Paul Scheurich in 1913. Inspired by the celebrated guest performance Le Carneval, based on Robert Schumann’s piano cycle, the figure captures the grace and theatricality of early 20th-century ballet at the Berlin Theatre.
The sculpture’s flowing skirt is adorned with intricate floral motifs, and the figure’s delicate hand-painted hat completes the composition. Scheurich masterfully conveys a fleeting moment of feigned fright and coquettish hesitation, embodying both motion and emotion.
Part of the artist’s renowned Russian Ballet ensemble — his first and most acclaimed collaboration with the Meissen manufactory — Estrella represents a pinnacle of modern porcelain art, sculpted, embossed, and hand-painted with exquisite precision. Each piece is produced in limited edition, created exclusively upon request.
