Zhuoyu Hou is a Chinese-born porcelain artist working with MEISSEN since 2016. Raised in southern China in close contact with nature and handmade objects, she developed an early sensitivity to craftsmanship and material form.
Hou studied industrial design at the China Academy of Art in Shanghai before continuing her education in Germany at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, focusing on ceramics and glass. During this period, she completed an internship at MEISSEN and realised her master’s graduation project in collaboration with the manufactory.
Her porcelain works are defined by a clear, sculptural language inspired by nature, balance, and cultural symbolism. Zhuoyu Hou contributes a contemporary, cross-cultural perspective to the manufactory’s artistic legacy.
For over 300 years, MEISSEN has been a symbol of exceptional craftsmanship and timeless design. The Limited Masterworks collection embodies this legacy, showcasing remastered historical icons and rare pieces from the Meissen archives.
Each year, nearly forgotten techniques are revived and reinterpreted, bridging past and present through artistic excellence. By honoring tradition while embracing contemporary creativity, the Limited Masterworks continue to redefine what porcelain art can be.
